Dance to Make a Difference- 8/22/18

The New Hampshire Dance Movement will host their 7th Annual Dance to Make a Difference on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2018 at 7:30pm at Inter-Lakes High School Auditorium, in Meredith, NH.  Proceeds from the event will be donated to FHL.  Dancers from all across New Hampshire came together to support local youth.

Yard Sale- 9/8/18

The FHL Board of Directors will participate in the Plymouth, NH Townwide Yard Sale on September 8th, 2018 from 9am-3pm.  Proceeds from the event will directly benefit local youth in need.  All items sold that day will be donated by the FHL Board and generous community members.

2018 FHL Scholarship Recipients

28168720_10160072259530322_6333489891023701009_nLaurisse Jordan was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the United States in her sophomore year. She is currently a senior at Inter-Lakes High School and a proud member of Chorus and National Honors Society. She loves music and photography and although she states she is not very athletic, she likes going outdoors and seeing the beauty of the world. She is Influenced by her mom, She wants to be a nurse and hopes to pursue an advanced practice in nursing. She also hopes to someday fulfill her dream of travelling the world and reaching out to those who are in need. Laurisse states that community service is a big part of who she is and it is something that She feels passionate about. In the future, She sees herself using her skills and resources to conduct medical missions and outreach programs to help people from different parts of the world. Congrats Laurisse! We cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you!

She enjoys drawing with ink, playing the flute, and learning about different cultures and languages. Currently, she is learning the art of woodblock printing as part of her senior project. She serves as the President of the National Honor Society, the Donor Recruitment Coordinator for school
blood drives, and a leader for various projects conducted through her school’s Service Club. Uzma been working as an intern at the Abbott Library and spends her free time shadowing medical professionals in the Emergency Department and Operation Room at Valley Regional Hospital. Her passion for volunteering has expanded over the years, between working with elementary kids in after school programs, tutoring middle school age children and spending time with hospital patients. She hopes to continue a Pre-med track, followed by medical school and a career as a physician in Emergency and Trauma medicine. Uzma says she is very thankful to be chosen as one of 2018’s FHL Scholarship Recipients!

 

28379569_10160101455990322_5409321010126222258_nTyler lives in Sunapee with his parents and younger sister. He is a senior at Sunapee High School where he has participated in Golf and Basketball. Tyler was the recipient of the NH Scholastic Gold Key award for the table he created from parts of an automobile. He qualified and competed in the NH Automobile Dealers Association state competition. He was recently nominated as a candidate for the United States Presidential scholars program for his accomplishments and ability in his technical field. He has participated in several local community events such as Green Up Day and the JMC Community day. Tyler is always ready to lend a helping hand to his friends and family. He enjoys snowmobiling and working on his Jeep. He plans to attend the Lakes Region Community college and enroll in the GM ASEP program.

Some of her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, reading, making tutus, coloring and watching classic movies from the 90s. Being raised in a large family she was taught to always be ready and willing to help others. Ariana put together a volunteer club at her local high school where she is finishing up her senior year. From warm clothing drives, gathering food shelf donations and special projects to encourage middle school students, Ariana has participated in and planed many volunteer projects. Ariana has big dreams to become an adolescent psychologist in college and she is ready for her new path to begin. The immense passion to helps others is what drives her each and every day.
